About the event
After years of hard work and coalition-building, advocates earned a huge win in 2022 when the Biden-Harris Administration announced their student debt relief plan. But political efforts to deny relief continue, and the Supreme Court is in the midst of deliberating on the issue’s constitutionality.
As a sub-group of Higher Ed Not Debt coalition members focused on Black and brown advocacy, we will be in front of the White House on June 20th urging the Supreme Court to focus on the law – not partisan politics. We are also committed to continuing the conversation with our passionate federal partners regarding potential alternative cancellation authority.
Student debt relief is legal, high-impact and common sense. It is fair and sorely needed to help level the playing field for families across the country that have been harmed the most by the student loan debt crisis. It’s about racial justice. It’s about economic justice. And we’re as fired up as ever.
