1K Women Strong partnered with local students and community leaders to celebrate Earth Day in Flint
Mid-Michigan communities were celebrating Earth Day on Tuesday, April 22.
“Every day should be Earth Day. This is our one Earth, this is our one home, so we need to take care of it and tend to it and continue to give back to it so it can flourish,” said Laura Lyn Handyside, director of Edible Flint Educational Farm.
On Tuesday, students with the University of Michigan Flint got their hands dirty at the Edible Flint Educational Farm, planting cherry trees, black raspberries, strawberries, onions, potatoes, and more.
Volunteers also went out in the neighborhood to pick up trash and other brush.
